Independence day wishes for the people of India
People of India celebrate 15th August as their independence day, when they got freedom from foreign rule. Mostly, Indians celebrate it by National flag hoisting, singing their national anthem and by participating in cultural events. What is an independence day?
Independence day is the day when a person is free from slavery, imprisonment, bondage or any kind of subjugation. A person who lives in a country or place under foreign rule, then that person gets its independence with that country or place. When a country or a place is free from foreign rule, all its people attain independence. And, the independence day of that land becomes the independence day of its people.
When and Why do Indians celebrate independence day?
Indians celebrate independence day on 15th August because they got independence from foreign rule on this day. And, their land became a sovereign and democratic nation. So, Indians exchange independence day wishes on this day.
From whom did India get independence?
Before 15th August 1947, India was a common wealth colony. And, it was called British India. Indian fought the British power to get Independence.
How did India get independence?
There was not a single major war of independence. But, many methods were constantly ongoing for more than a century. Since the first half of the 19th century, people were fighting these british forces in an unorganized manner. In 1885, Indian National Congress (INC) was formed. INC became a prominent face to fight british forces. But, it was not alone fighting for freedom. Alongside, many offshoots of INC and many other organizations were struggling for freedom. It was not the result of a person or organization’s effort but of the whole nation. It had many faces like tribal revolt, peasant revolt, planned attack, petitions, mass struggle, civil disobedience, strikes, and etc.
Who were the major heroes of Indian freedom struggle?
Majority of the nation stood for itself and fought at their level. But, some were extraordinary, who fought unexceptionally. Happy independence day wishes are incomplete without them. Indians are indebted to their valor and courage. Their technique and temperament were different. But, they all fought to free India. We have a long list of the heroes of our freedom struggle. Is independence important?
Every individual wants to be free. Nobody wants to be controlled. We all want to exercise our rights. And, this is only possible in an independent nation. When a nation is under control of foreign power, it suffers along with its people. Its people are forced to become slaves. Their self respect and dignity are lost. Their rights are slashed off. This state of life is miserable. That is why independence is important.
How is life better in independent India as compared to British India?
In comparison to British India, life is better in independent India. In independent India, Citizens have fundamental rights. Indians have universal suffrage. It does not discriminate against its citizens on the basis of gender, religion, class, caste, education, wealth, political stance etc. India supports the downtrodden among its citizens to grow and flourish. And, it’s people’s cumulative effort is giving India a golden push. Together both are growing simultaneously.
What should a citizen do to protect our independence?
The citizens should see their growth and failure in the growth and failure of their nation. Additionally, with rights citizens have duties. So, citizens must fulfill their duties to protect their land and independence.
